Jason Mraz

More About Jason Mraz:
Jason Mraz is an American singer-songwriter, born on June 23, 1977 in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Jason Mraz attended The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, for a short time, studying musical theater before moving to San Diego. Jason Mraz's stylistic influences include reggae, pop, rock, folk, jazz and hip-hop.

Jason Mraz released his debut album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come in 2002 but it wasn't until the release of his second album, Mr. A-Z that Mraz achieved commercial success. His second album peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 200 and sold over one hundred thousand copies in the US. In 2008, Mraz released his third album, We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. The third album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 and was a commercial success worldwide, peaking in the top ten of many international charts. This was Mraz's international breakthrough, with "I'm Yours" being the single that peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Jason Mraz his first top ten single. This single may also be the longest running song in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but the hippie-friendly jam has been around even longer. Mraz has played the song on tour for five years, and he said fans at live shows always responded differently to it, inspiring him to release it as a single.

In July 2005, Jason Mraz opened for Alanis Morissette during her Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Tour. In December of 2005, Jason Mraz's second album earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, while its producer, Steve Lillywhite, received a nomination for Producer of the Year. In November 2005, Jason Mraz opened for the Rolling Stones on five dates during their 2005-2006 world tour. In March 2006, Jason Mraz performed for the first time, at a sold-out performance in Singapore as part of the annual Mosaic Music Festival.

Jason Mraz includes a wide variety of different styles in his music, keeping his fans intrigued and inspired by his clever, observant lyrics and strong, engaging pop melodies. Jason Mraz admits his own inspiration comes from his personal moments of self-realization, self-empowerment and self-improvement. For an artist who is so well known for his inspired way with words, it should come as no surprise that the great majority of his performances are sold-out.
