Daughtry was formed in 2006 after front man, Chris Daughtry, finished 4th on the popular talent show American Idol. Chris Daughtry was originally offered the lead singer position for the band Fuel after American Idol but turned it down to form his own band. Chris Daughtry signed with 19 Entertainment and RCA Records and then held auditions for his band. Chris Daughtry chose Jeremy Brady, Josh Steely, Josh Paul, and Joey Barnes. They named the band Daughtry to keep name recognition from Chris Daughtrys huge success on American Idol.

Daughtry released their first album, Daughtry, on November 21, 2006. Daughtry was #1 on the Billboard 200 for two weeks and stayed on the charts for close to two years. Daughtry had many successful singles including "It's Not Over," "Home," "What I Want," "Over You," "Crashed," "Feels Like Tonight" and "What About Now. Daughtry has been certified 4x Platinum for selling more than four million copies. Daughtry was nominated four for Grammys in 2008. Daughtry released their second album, Leave This Town, on July 14, 2009. Daughtry released their first single "No Surprise" on their website before releasing the album. Leave This Town debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and sold 269,000 copies its first week.

Daughtry has been selling out concerts since they starting touring in January 2007. Daughtry has opened for Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd, Finger Eleven and Bon Jovi. Daughtry has also headlined there own tours including the 2007 Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI. Daughtry has sold out shows where there were 15,000 screaming fans.
